The story about S*FamiljeLyckans

Once upon a time....
...there was a breeding called Tidernas that was started in 1982, the same year as the oldest daughter Kicki Ahlros was born. Tidernas got their first burmeeses in 1992 and had a burmeese breeding for a number of years. Eventually they also got Norwegian Forest Cats, and the breeding became more and more concentrated to this semilonghaired breed.

The breeding begins
When Kicki in 2004 met Kristoffer (Stoffe) Norrgran, born 1976, she had allready moved away from home and she had brought both the intrest of cats and a few neutered burmeese cats. The intrest affected even Kristoffer and during 2005 the female Tidernas Lycka, NFO fs 09 23 moved in. The name S*FamiljeLyckans got registred in the fall 2005 and 2006 came the first litter of Norwegian Forest Cats. 2007 Untill today we have breed 12 happy kittens and we hope there is a lot more to come during the years. To the family we also count Michelle 12 years, Stoffes daughter who helpes us with the cats and the kittens in a great way and our first child together Ronja who was born in July 2009. We live in a house in Fellingsbro (about 20 kilometers north of Arboga) in Sweden since November 2007 and we like it very much here. Kicki is a student to become a teacher and she should be finished summer 2010. Stoffe workes as a smith on constructionplaces at most times around the country but will be at home with Ronja in the spring 2010 so Kicki can study. Except our cats, we share an intrest for computers and to relax we like to watch a movie, read a book or play a game together. Most of the time we like to spend time with our wonderful children and our cats.

The history of the breeding name
The name S*FamiljeLyckans means FamilyFortune, or FamilyHappiness. It comes from that our breeding has quite some things to do with the family, and both of us value our famillies alot. Fortune is of course important, and above all we wish happiness and fortune to our life and our breeding. We see our cats as member of our family, and our first breeding cat's name was Lycka as well, so the name came quite natural to us. We have decided to name our cats after films or books sence this things are great parts of our lives. From 2007 we will try to give an amount of money for each kitten to charity as a part in our search for familyhappiness, even for others. We started this in the litter of 2007 by giving 500 swedish krones for every kitten to The foundation of Astrid Lindgrens Hospital for Children.

Goals with our breeding
With our breeing we want to bread social cats who always in the first hand are pets. We always rather see a nice cat than a beautiful, even though the combination is our goal. If our cats like to go to shows we will be happy to take them, but if it doesn't work then they will be happy and safe at home instead. The longterm results are more important than the fast titels in the shows. When we sell kittens we wish that both cat and owner will be happy with their new home/familymembers, and we therefor like to keep in touch in a longer perspective. We wish that our cats can remain as indoorcats. This has several reasons but the most important is all the dangers for cats who live outdoors. No matter if you live in a city or in the countryside, there are a lot of things that your cat can meet, like wild animals (snakes, foxes and others), cars, people who don't like cats, well the list can get very long. Your cat can also do things to people that have not asked for it, like doing their needs in gardens or childrens playgrounds, go in to strangers, fight with other cats and so on. In Sweden it is also important to know that the same law that requires you to know what your dog is doing, goes even for cats. That meens that you are responsible for what your cat is doing and is obligated to know where it is. Cats don't have any problems living indoors. If you really wan't your cat to be outside we recommend that you build a catyard or put net on your balcony (remember to check with the owner of the house) or take the cat for walks in a leash. This is a point of view that we have mostly for the cat's, but also for your own best.

We hope that we will have many happy years with our breeding ahead and hope that our kittenbuyers and cats will share that happiness with us. We wish that your new famillymember will bring happiness and fortune to your familly, as the name FamiljeLyckans means.

Best wishes
Kicki, Stoffe, Michelle & Ronja
